For Most High School and NVTBL Players:
The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) bat restrictions are going to change for the 2010 - 2011 season. Composite bats will have to two new standards, the Ball Exit Speed Ratio (BESR) and the Accelerated Break IN (ABI) procedure.
NVTBL will continue to follow our current bat restrictions for the fall 2010 season. However, beginning with the Spring 2011 season, NVTBL will follow the NFHS bat restriction guidelines. In an effort to keep your parents informed about which bats conform to the new NFHS standards (so they don't waste their money), we have included a link that shows which bats are certified. For 13-15 Divisions:
The International Board of Directors of Babe Ruth League, Inc., approved a new bat regulation for the 13-15 Division beginning with the 2010 season for local league and tournament play. This regulation limits the diameter of the bat barrel to 2 5/8”. There is no length to weight ratio requirement (i.e. no drop).
This is the direction most amateur baseball programs are taking. High School Baseball organizations have already implemented the 2 5/8” -3 rule. As such, bat manufacturers will be concentrating on producing bats that fall within this dimension for the 13-15 age groups.
